Root:   'as₁   «walk-2»

For two to walk on one pair of limbs. This is the root used to describe the way in which people usually walk, as opposed to walking on all fours the way animals such as dogs and moose walk. It is, however, appropriate if an animal such as a dog or bear gets up on its hind legs and walks. It is one of several roots that may be used for birds, which have only one pair of limbs. It is not necessary that the limbs used be legs; this root is appropriate for a person walking while doing a handstand. This root is also used as a generic verb of motion when the speaker does not wish to specify a particular means of movement, such as walking, driving, or flying.
