Entering Regular Expressions

Regular expressions may be entered in six ways:

The ability to copy the contents of the clipboard is particularly important for those who wish to make use of a wide range of characters. Unicode characters can be selected and copied to the clipboard using a Unicode character map. Here we see the gucharmap in which the Japanese hiragana range has been selected. The character お has been selected and inserted twice into the text region at the bottom of the window. Pressing the Copy button copied the string おお to the clipboard.

The command Load Regular Expression from Clipboard on the file menu will then insert the selected characters into the regular expression window.
