This converts from a pure ASCII notation, one which you can type on an ordinary English keyboard with no special input method, to the Carrier Linguistic Committee writing system. In practice, this means that it allows you to enter the letters with an underscore that represent the "fronted" consonants and the acute accent used for high tone.
To enter underscores, put an underscore after the letter on which you want it to appear, e.g. s_ for s̲. To enter an acute accent, put a "^" after the vowel letter, e.g. e^ for é
It also converts apostrophes to right single quote characters when they are not preceded by anything or are immediately preceded by a space or tab character. This prevents them from being converted into left quote characters by word processors.
By default, the entire text will be transliterated. To transliterate only a subpart, select the part you wish to transliterate with your mouse.
As a transliterater, this program just converts between writing sytems. It does not translate between English and Carrier.
