Etymology: This presumably means ‟it (the sky) is striped around”. /na/ is presumably ‟around” and /hoo/ is the combination of the areal prefix and the perfective/neutre prefix /i/. The stem /doos/ is not otherwise attested in Carrier but appears to be cognate to ‟to be striped” in other Athabaskan languages, such as Navajo.
