yawhudoosya•whu•doosᘓᗘᑌᔆNNorthern Lights, aurora borealis

Etymology: This presumably means ‟the sky is striped”. /ya/ is readily identifiable as ‟sky” and /whu/ as the areal prefix. The stem /doos/ is not otherwise attested in Carrier but appears to be cognate to ‟to be striped” in other Athabaskan languages, such as Navajo.
