Seasons
Carrier has five seasons in contrast to the four seasons of English:
| dak'et | fall |
| khit | winter |
| 'olulh | early spring |
| shin | late spring/early summer |
| danghun | high summer |
dak'et Fall and khit Winter correspond closely to the English seasons, but Carrier divides Spring and Summer into three seasons. 'olulh begins when the snow begins to melt. It becomes shin when the ground is bare and plants begin to grow. When the ground is again covered with plants it is danghun.
Some people say “shen” instead of “shin”, and some people say “dang” instead of “danghun”.
