Titles

The use of titles is not traditional and even now only two are commonly used. One is Bel, “Father”, the title of a Catholic priest. The other is Ndo, “Saint”. Both are used only together with a name, e.g. Bel Koola “Father Coccola”, Ndo Mali “Saint Mary”, never by themselves. You can, for example, address a priest as Bel Jim “Father Jim”, but not as Bel “Father”.
