it (meat or fish) is fresh, it (grass) is green

This term refers to recently caught meat or fish that has not been frozen, smoked, or otherwise preserved. It is not used in reference to fruit or vegetables. It is, however, used to describe grass as being green since it refers to freshness, not unripeness.
