Etymology: ‟a char glutted himself”. The meaning ‟fat trout” given by A. H. Holland at p. 39 of the Annual Report of the Minister of Lands of the Province of British Columbia for the Year Ending 31st December 1919 is evidently based on this. There is an alternative, Bet Nes̲dai, q.v., that appears to be more recent.
